Artists Helping Artists Radio Show

A TRUE gem on BlogTalk Radio

Artists Helping Artists is a live  radio show airing each Thursday. Here is a blurb from their press kit:

"July 5, 2010--Artists Leslie Saeta and Dreama Tolle Perry met online in June of 2009 via their art blogs. It seems only fitting that the radio show they now co-host is done through blog talk radio. The Artists Helping Artists radio show, launched just a few short months ago, is attracting large numbers of artists to the live weekly show due in large part to its "in the trenches" shop talk for artists."

One of the last shows I listened to, mentioned they are celebrating 4 years & 15,000 listeners! Wow!

I love all the tips available in these radio shows! From basic layout reminders, color discussions, how to market your art and keep your email in-box under control. You will love all the insights shared here - It pertains to all of us interested in art Licensing too!

If you miss a show on Thursday - don't worry you can listen to the replays.

Leave me a comment and let me know if you found this helpful :-)

Contracts, Lawyers - Oh My!

Invoice from My Lawyer

Today I got an invoice from my lawyer who helped me look over and negotiate an agent/artist contract.

First I have to say GET A LAWYER. Find and IP (intellectual property) lawyer AND one that is familiar with contracts in the world of art licensing. They are worth every penny! They will know what is missing from the contract and what needs to be amended or taken out. What effect it will have on other aspects of your current business etc.

Before I hired a lawyer, I was thinking that I was fairly well educated on art licensing contracts and what kinds of things are considered normal/standard in these types of contracts. I had done my homework.

What I realized, as negotiations went along, that many things are not normal/standard. It is an agreement between two people/businesses. Since each person/business is unique - of course each contract will be unique. It is kind of a no-brainer, but it didn't hit home for me until I lived it.

Since I don't have any experience with contracts or negotiating a contract - my lawyer was again worth EVERY penny :-) AND doing my homework helped me with understanding the legalese —better than if I had not done any homework.

This is a resource on my Christmas list. If you have it, let me know what you think of it! anntroe@cox.net

Creativity Feels Like...

What Does Creativity Feel Like?

Some of my "non-art" friends ask me what creativity feels like. I am assuming that they think I am more creative than they are. Maybe, but I don't think so.

It is just when you are a dreamer - yep looking out your office window and just relaxed in the moment. You can be lost in a project and loose track of time. When I played sports, we referred to it as being in the zone. Creativity can be enthusiastic, or just one of those moments when an idea pops in your head while taking a shower.

Tell me how you describe creativity? Thanks! ~Annie

What is Art Licensing

What is Art Licensing

First I have to say — I am finding it quite weird to start a blog. :-)

BUT, I think it will be COOL and hopefully helpful to others to share my experiences as I go down the art licensing path. AND I am looking forward to following other creative people's blogs!

What is art licensing? I simply put it "Art on Stuff". For example, art on a notepad, napkins, wine bottle, shower curtain - I think the list is endless! Here is a link to my art licensing website: AnniesDoodlebugz.com - that will give you some idea.
